Non graphical components

The 3D CAD model represents a real image of the product. The structure of this model reflects the product structure via the bill of material. But not all components, which are used during production of this product, are necessarily part of the model. In this case, they can be inserted manually by the engineer.

keytech PLM allows the manual addition of non drawn parts to the bill of material to create the whole structures without having a 3D CAD model in the background.

The base bill of material of a product with historical data can be created for immediate release and transfer to the ERP system, without 3D models. Product configurations on the ERP side can provide the base structure with components and position numbers on which the engineering is built up. A mixed bill of material can be generated from 2D and 3D data. The same can apply to a mixture of mechanical and electrical bills of material if the ECAD system does not allow an automatic creation of bills of material. Below are just a few examples of the functions that keytech PLM can support in this area.
  • Support of non graphical components in the bill of material
  • Complete image of the product structure with or without the 3D model
  • Mixed product structures of multiple 2D and 3D documents
  • Mixed product structures of mechanical and electrical elements
  • Link between bill of material and documents, independent of the used application and integration depth
